Electron optical system consists of a number of concentric image electrodes fitted inside an evacuated bulb. The external electrical connections are via pins whose ends are in spring loaded contact with the electrodes. It is used as an image intensifier tube in radiology. The contact electrodes are all mounted on an electrically insulated ring. The terminal pins are fitted more or less parallel to the axes of the electrodes, penetrating the insulating ring and fixed to the individual electrodes. The pins can be adjusted in the axial direction of the tube and are vacuum sealed at the outer surface.
