Comminuter for bulky waste, e.g. sheet metal, plastics, glass, wood, or textiles, has a hopper rotatably mounted at its upper edge and at its lower region, and drivable by its upper edge. The hopper is free from internal obstacles diminishing its vol., and has connected cutter blades, cooperating with corresponding stationary cutter regions. Preferably one or both cutter edges are curved, rearward as seen in the direction of advance. The hopper revolves in a housing whose funnel-shaped inner wall has a step, which merges into the cutting edge of the second cutter.
