Banknote authenticity visual checking device - requires little training and is a fast and efficient semi-automatic system

A simple mechanical system is described in which a banknote or similar document can be mounted conveniently between two glass plates, compressed until flat, and then illuminated in three ways, namely with ultraviolet light, with a light through the document, and with an even foodlight across the document. It may then be inspected through a window under these conditions and the paper quality, water, marks and dark stripe visually checked for authenticity. The glass plates used must be good quality, and art paper is also used on both surfaces of the lower plate to spread the light evenly over the banknote. It is claimed that almost 100% efficiency can be obtained using this device after very little training, regardless of the physical condition of the banknotes.
