Length gauge for analysis of seismic recordings - gives accurate indication of lengths up to fifty cm

The gauge comprises a slider which moves along a bar to indicate the measured length. The slider acts as the sliding contact of a potentiometer whose resistors runs along the bar, and the potentiometer output indicates the position of the slider. The potentiometer output may be connected to a printer to produce a direct permanent record. The potentiometer output tapping is connected to a digital voltmeter, which records from a constant input voltage across the potentiometer.
