Synthetic raffia textile goods are produced in an installation including a flat film extruder, a cooling trough for the film, a slitting knife for cutting the film lengthways into two strips of the same width, a roller arrangement for diverting one or both of the strips into parallel paths one above the other, and a gp. of rollers for flattening and stabilising the two strips. The rollers altering the paths of the strips, for a pair, the axis of the first of which is parallel to the plane of the film before it is slit, and inclined at 45 degrees to the line of motion; the second roller being lined up parallel to the first on a lower level. Much quicker than using tubular film and giving a prod. with uniform characteristics from readily obtd. materials at low prices.
