Plant for performance of work on animals

The grille containing e.g. eight, cattle-stalls is situated around an attendants' area which cannot be reached by the cows. Each stall contains a feeding-trough to which a small partition is attached, preventing the cows from entering the adjoining stall. The radial width of the stall area is less than the minimum length of the animals, so that the animals stand at an angle to the surrounding barrier. The loop-shaped access and exit corridor is approached by a gate allowing a certain number of cows to enter. The cows follow a barrier fixed to the surrounding-barrier and which rotates in a clockwise direction. The front cow of the group admitted into the unit enters its stall through a raised part of the barrier and leaves it through an adjacent raised archway. The cows then leave through the exit corridor. Sliding doors are attached to the barrier. Two feeler rods touched by the cows in the entrance automatically open the doors, and enables a count to be made o f the number of cows.
