The electromagnetic relay has a trough-shaped insulating housing with a separate cover, the magnetic system being located between the housing base part and the cover, and the contacts are secured in the base body. An insulating plunger across the relay coil axis on the magnetic system side transmits the switching movement of the flat armature to the moving contacts. The latter are formed by rectangular spring sheet metal strips with a double closing or interrupting current bridge, having two spaced contact rivets. The contact edge away from the contact rivets form bearing edges on the inner side of the base body bottom. The stationary contacts are also secured in the base body. Preferably the spring strips have a U-shaped recess near the bearing edge, open towards the same.
