To overcome the problems of misalignment or heat expansion when connecting rigid pipe lines, a telescopic fitting with an elastic sealing element is used. A flanged sleeve has an internal thread on one end into which a tubular fitting body is screwed. Its internal dia. is larger than the pipes which are being connected thus allowing them to enter the fitting if heat expands the length of the pipeline. A tapered sleeve connects the tubular fitting body with the end of the second pipe line. A lipped seal ring is trapped between the flanged sleeve and the clamp ring. Since the seal ring is elastic, some angular misalignment between pipe line and fitting can be overcome. To compensate axial misalignment, eccentric flanged sleeves on either end of the tubular fitting body are used.
