Tennis racket made of glass fibre layered cloth - has hollow section frame and handle formed under internal pressure

The racket head is formed from a loop of tube made of glass fibre cloth impregnated with resin. The handle is made of similar tube but is of octagonal section at the outer end gradually changing to circular section at the junction with the racket head. The handle and head are bonded together with further layers of resin impregnated glass cloth and the whole assembly is then placed in the mould. Compressed air is supplied to the inside of the head by the hole and to the handle by the pipe during curing so that the glass cloth is held firmly against the walls of the mould.
