1495708 Centrifugal pumps and compressors E KAMELMACHER 30 Dec 1974 [11 Jan 1974] 1521/74 Heading F1C A centrifugal impeller blade comprises an outlet end 4 lying on a radius A, an inlet end 5 inclined with respect to the rotational axis 3 and having its innermost point 13 lying on a radius B which leads the radius A in the direction of rotation by an angle #, the pumping surface 6 having a concave portion 7 adjacent the outlet end and a convex portion 9 adjacent the inlet end, and the angles # 1 , # 2 and # 3 at the respective points 13, 10 and 4 between a tangent to the surface 6 and a tangent to a circle about the axis 3 are respectively 25 degrees to 90 degrees (preferably 30 degrees to 50 degrees, say 45 degrees), 15 degrees to 35 degrees (preferably 15 degrees to 25 degrees, say 20 degrees) and 60 degrees to 100 degrees (preferably 80 degrees to 100 degrees, say 90 degrees). The angle # is 30 degrees to 100 degrees (preferably 70 degrees to 92, say 75 degrees). The angle γ between the inlet end 5 (as viewed in Fig. 2) and the axial direction is 15 degrees to 61 degrees (preferably 30 degrees to 55 degrees, say 40 degrees). The blades overlap when viewed in radial direction.
