Flexible, inflatable cushion of PVC sheet has two sheets welded together along their borders except at a part via which the interior communicates with a channel of a filing appendage formed from the two sheets and able to be stoppered. Pref. a welding head and a cutter are used to produce the desired shape. The cushion may also be made from a polyethylene sleeve, cut and welded at intervals to form the bottoms, with simultaneous welding and cutting to form the inflation channel.
