The pump is for use when extracting directly from wells. The pressure in the surge tank is measured and controls the stopping and starting of the pump. Water is drawn into the pump and passes through outlet (14) to one of three possible locations controlled by valve (16): either main house supply pipe (18), relief outlet, or through outlet, or through outlet (26) to a reservoir. A central dia in the reservoir lays flat on the bottom when empty but is raised when pressurized with water. Electrical cutout closes when the pressure in outlet (26) measured by a manometer drops below 1.4 bars and the pump starts. When the pressure reaches 2.8 bars, the reverse happens and the pumps stops.
