The bulked zones are composed of a number of independent threads wound with or counter to the compact zones, the false-twisting process being effected at temperatures between the softening and melting points of the yarn. The purpose is to give a texturised yarn with a particularly good potential torque for use in weaving crepe fabrics with special crimping.
