Sectional boiler with annular sections - alternate ports blanked off to ensure circuitous water flow

A section boiler is made up of annular units (1, 2) through which the water circulates, each face incorporating two holes (A, B) at the top and one (C) at the bottom, and these holes can be interconnected by barrel shaped nipples when one section (1) abuts the next section (2). A barrier plate (4) is incorporated between the two upper holes. To ensure that the greater part of the flow follows a meander path as it travels from section to section, alternate nipples in the top two holes are blanked off, and the bottom nipple is also blanked off so that the liquid must make a complete circuit around each section. All the blanked off faces contain however a small hole to permit evacuation of air and subsequently drainage.
