The electrical connector is formed from a U stirrup (1) and a cross bar which carries the clamping screw (3). The cross bar (2) is formed from an L shaped piece, one of its branches carrying the clamping screw (3), the other branch having parallel to the edge of the L, a slot (7). The U shaped stirrup (1) has as symmetric branches. The longest branch (8) has a window (9) into which is slipped the part of the L shaped crossbar carrying the clamping screw. The shortest branch (11) of the stirrup (1) slides into the slot (7) in the other branch of the L shaped crossbar. A stop is preferably formed on the free end of the shortest brach of the stirrup.
