Floating oil slick collector - with separate floating inflow sleeve around tank top and pumps for oil and water

Oil slicks and other hydrocarbons which float on the water surface are recovered by buoyant tank which is kept by floats with its upper edge underneath the water level. One pump extracts the hydrocarbons which have flown into the tank together with the water through an overflow sleeve which is joined by a VITON (RTM) membrane to the tank. Floats carry the overflow sleeve and regulate the overflow rate. This automatically matches the inflow rate into the tank to the outflow rate from the tank. The first pump can be left in continuous operation; the second pump is switched on only when the interface level drops to a predetermined level. The device is simple and robust.
