The fitting body (1) has a thread (2) for fitting into the hydraulic system, spanner flats (4) and a thread (3) for the cap (12). The central bore (5) terminates in a conical valve seat (6) against which the valve ball (9) is pressed by the spring (10). Above the seat is a recess for the sealing ring (7) which is compressed by the collar (13) attached to lever (16) and secured by the outer collar (14). To measure the pressure, the cap (12) is removed and replaced by a similar fitting which is connected to the menometer and has a spike, projecting from the collar (13), which presses the ball (9) downwards, so opening the valve. The spring is held under compression by a split steel sleeve (11) within the central bore. This elastic sleeve is force fitted within the bore so its end is flush with the end of thread (2).
