Retractable obturating disc (4) for hole in billiards table, reciprocates beneath a hole (4) in which it fits flush with the plane table surface. Motion is effected by mechanical or manual means and enables the table to be swiftly adapted from a conventional table to accommodate a game of bar billiards. The obturating head (3) can be concave, convex or constitute a skittle, and can be mounted on a sliding rod (6) within a cylindrical guide sheath (7) and operating in conjunction with a coil spring (19) or can incorporate a helical thread with a bayonet catch. Balls dropping onto the retracted head can be moved to an outlet channel by a spring loaded button (13).
