The control circuit for a synchronous machine rectifier, has three outputs of a pole position generator each passed over pulse shaping logic to control an integrator. Each integrator is coupled to the output of a frequency to voltage converter which converts the shaping logic pulse sequence into a voltage for integration. The integration of the frequency to voltage converter output takes place over the duration of each pulse, appearing at the pulse shaper output. The integrated signals are compared with a variable reference voltage and the result used to control the rectifier thyristors via further logic circuitry. Each pulse shaping circuit contains two monostable flip-flops and an output OR-gate.
