The optical system has a first reticule (1) with a lens (3) and condenser (4) for illuminating the latter and with a partially reflective mirror (5) on the central axis of the reticule (1) deflecting the light from the reticule along a second axis (6) towards a converging lens (7) forming an image at infinity. A second reticule (1) is centred on the second axis (6) at the opposite side of the mirror (5), in the focal place of the converging lens (7) and is fed with the real image of a third reticule (8) lying on the same axis as the first reticule (1) at the opposite side of the mirror (5) to the latter. An area of the focal plane (10) of the converging lens (7) is viewed using a TV camera (10) transmitting a picture to an associated receiver (20).
