One or more passages in the wall of the drain emerge at one end at the grooved portion, and, at the other end, in the end of the plain portion. Each passage can be open at both ends, and run parallel to the drain axis, also being of constant cross-section throughout its length. The passages can be of circular cross-section, four or six in number, and evenly distributed between the grooves. The design allows flesh dramage and irrigation to take place simultaneously. The base of each groove communicates with the interior of the drain by means of a row of regularly spaced radial passages.
