The on-linear voltage function generator contains device which converts an electrical potential difference into another potential difference related to the first by a defined non-linear law which is simulated by a succession of straight line segments in an approximation of the transfer function. Thus a series of linear circuits can be conveniently arranged to realise the non-linear law relationship. The generator may be used for the calibration of electrical and electronic measuring apparatus by simulating the output voltages of transducers such as thermocouples which rarely have linear transfer functions.
