A device to enable patterns to be engraved on wooden panels, has a circular turntable (12) marked with a scale of degrees around its edge, mounted on a vertical spindle (11) so that it can be turned to a desired angle, the spindle fitting in a vertical support mounted on a carriage (9) with slides (7, 8) each end so that it can travel on spindles (5, 6) through the slides. These spindles are in turn attached to slides (3, 4) which can travel on spindles (1, 2) at right angles to the other slides. Above the turntable is mounted an engraving device (14) which can be raised and lowered to make a cut and which can also travel with a guide (15) parallel to the first pair (7, 8) of slides below, supporting the carriage.
