Building-space heating with heat pump - using additional electric low-tariff heating to reach required temp.

Building spaces are heated using a heat pump fed from an environmental medium and heating a heating medium to which additional heat is supplied. A basic flow of the heating medium is heated by the heat pump to a temp. below the max. for the temp. required for heating all the year round. A priming stream of the heating medium is heated to a temp. above that of the basic flow, and is mixed with the basic flow in a ratio that brings the medium temp. to the required value. Preferably the priming stream is heated by low-tariff electric current, depending on the external temp., and the basic flow is fed in high-tariff periods.
