The electrostatic sepn. of a mixt. of particles of quartz and feldspar, by the Corona effect, uses, as the voltage-active additive for increasing the difference between the superficial resistivity of quartz and that of feldspar, an oxyethylated amine of the type "Cataflot 2704" (RTM). The amine is used at the rate of 300 gr. to 1 kg. per tonne, partic. 600g. per tonne. Using "Cataflot 2704" gives much better results than those obtd. with other known voltage-active agents, even those of the same type, i.e. cationic amine-based agents, which are used in flotation processes and necessitate fluorhydric activation. The ratio of resistivities achieved is 3.5, compared with 2.5 for the best of other amines of the same kind, and 1 for other amines, used as voltage-active agents.
