The first source for recording, e.g. a photographic film (6) has a first information group, and a second information group characterising the latter, while the second recording source, e.g. a microfilm plate (20) carries information which is required to be combined with the first information group on the first recording source. The second recording source (20) information is displaced to bring a required area of the latter in front of the respective projection means (26), to allow the information from the two sources (6, 20) to be projected via a semi-reflective mirror (28) onto a common recording medium. A control unit (33) controls the displacement of the two sources (6, 20), search means (23, 24) for the second source, and the recording unit.
