Cyclohexyl-3-thienyl acid acid (I) is prepd. by reacting methyl 3-thienyl acetate (II) with diethyl carbonate (Claisen) to form methyl ethyl 3-thienyl-malonate (III), condensing (IIIe with cycolhexyl bromide in the presence of diethyl carbonate to form diethyl cyclohexyl 3-thienyl malonate (IV) and subjecting (IV) to hydrolysis and decarboxylation. (I) is esterified by known methods to form basic esters (V) which are drugs of undisclosed activity.
