Welding head for arc-welding in a protective atmos. with fume extn. comprises a double-walled sleeve detachably mounted on a welding jet of conventional type contg. an inlet for protective gas and an axial electrode wire fed automatically. The space between the two walls is open at the end nearest the arc and closed at the other end; connected to a suction channel; and the inner wall projects beyond the outer wall in the direction of the arc to form a bell-mouthed cone forming a shield. The part of the sleeve remot from the arc pref. consists of a collar contg. a locking screw which projects through the two walls and clamps the sleeve on the welding head.
