A circular cake bearing plate (3) is mounted rotatably by a central pin (4) on a base plate (1) of larger dia. A knife (9, 8) is hinged from a support (6) on the base plate (1) periphery which has reference marks numbered in accordance with the desired number of segments. The base plate incorporates support feet (2) which have integral upward projections (5) supporting the top plate. An initial radial cut is made in a cake and the cake rotated until the cut is aligned with a mark corresponding to the number of desired segments. A further cut is made and the process repeated until all the cuts have been made.
