The multiple section woodworking machine, designed on the modular principle to reduce cost, while permitting a large variety of cutting operations to be carried out, has a horizontal bed and a workpiece feed arrangement above the working surface, and between the bed and the working surface has a successions of tool carrying blocks. Each block has a horizontal dovetail type slide on each side, and each horizontal slide incorporates a vertical slide carrying a tool, such as a drill or other cutter. Thus at different positions along the working surface, tools can be arranged vertically, horizontally or set at required angles and at different heights, resulting in a versatile arrangement.
