The arched structure for use as an airfield hanger, farm building etc has a set of curved tubular supports (1) carrying longitudinals at right angles to form a frame to carry semi rigid panels (3) of e.g. plastics or wood, while may carry a protective sealing film (19) and which may overlap with a sealing strip (11) between the overlap. These panels are retained by hooks (7) which pass around the tubes, with threaded ends which pass through the panels, and fitted with nuts (7b). Finally, these panels, are held down onto the framework by tensioning cables (8) in pairs, one each side of the overlapping joint. These cables may be enclosed by a protective tube (20). The cables can be tensioned by winding them around bolts near the base of the frame, the bolts being rotated to increase the tension.
