A connecting profiled section (7) is of external dimensions such as to fit the old window frame (1) and fits inside it. It has one or more stops (8) bearing against the outer and/or inner face of the old frame. Covering profiled sections (23, 24) are also provided on the inner and/or outer face of the connecting section to fit partially or completely over the old frame. The stop can extend right the way round the window, being situated on the inner face (18) of connecting section, and having a recess (10) accommodating a circumferential elastic joint.
