1382149 Foundry ladle bottom-pour arrangements USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 30 March 1972 [24 Jan 1972] 15210/72 Heading F4B A ladle or the like 10 has a sliding gate 20 controlling a bottom pour outlet 13 and moving between a fixed plate 17 and a holder 37 carrying a pouring tube 40. The arrangement is such that a replacement pouring tube holder can be positioned at the side of and aligned with the holder in use, and slid into position by the gate valve operating mechanism, replacing the old holder. The slide valve 20 is operated by a cylinder 29 connected by pull rods 32 to a block 34. The gate 20 is supported on rocker arms 21 pivoted at 22 to a frame secured below the ladle and is pressed against fixed plate 17 by spring 24 engaging the rocker arms 21 through studs 25. Guide levers 44 are pressed upwardly against the tube holder 37 by spring assemblies (Fig. 4, not shown) pivoting the guide-levers about lugs 46 engaging the gate frame 15. The puller block 34 operating the gate has a rail 59 carrying a dog 60 so arranged that a replacement tube holder can be inserted upwardly and rests on the dog 60 and guide levers 44 until pulled to displace the old holder. Stops 63 carried by rods 64 journalled in the guide levers 44 can be turned by handles 66 to prevent accidental displacement of the pouring tube holder. The temporary support for the replacement tube holder may comprise rails pivoted to the gate frame.
