1403378 Coil dialyser VERNITRON MEDICAL PRODUCTS INC 10 July 1972 32243/72 Heading B1X A human blood filtering device comprises a core 34 which supports a filtering body 36 in the form of a helically wrapped interleaved arrangement of a supporting mesh 38 and of an elongated tubular blood-filtering membrane 40 having an inlet opening 54 adjacent the innermost wrap of said filtering body and an outlet opening 58 located within said filtering body, said filtering body being provided with a cavity extending a predetermined distance inwardly from the interior of the outermost wrap of said supporting mesh of said filtering body in the direction toward said support core, a blood inlet conduit 12 connected to said membrane inlet opening by connection means 56 fixedly mounted on said core in a manner such as to minimise and rupturing movement between said membrane and said inlet conduit, and a blood outlet conduit 20 connected to said membrane outlet opening by connection means 56 located in said cavity in a manner such as to minimise any rupturing movement between said membrane and said outlet conduit, and a blood outlet conduit 20 connected to said membrane outlet opening by connection means 56 located in said cavity in a manner such as to minimise any rupturing movement between said membrane and said outlet conduit and in a manner such as to minimise directional change in the membrane and restriction to fluid flow through the membrane. The whole unit may be enclosed in rings 50, 52 to maintain pressure in the membrane tube. The device may be used for dialysis.
