Method for combatting pollution using a chromium complex

A process for anchoring a trivalent chromium complex, in which the chromium is co-ordinated to an acryclic carboxylic acid, to solid particles having a grain size of 1 to 600 microns by mixing 5 to 20 weight parts of said particles with one weight part of an aqueous alcoholic solution of said complex and heating the mixture to dryness. Products obtained by this process and their use in combating oil pollution of water.
