A pneumatic run-flat tyre has externally concave side walls which diverge outwardly from the bead at the inner edges of the side walls towards the tread portion. The outer surface of the tread portion is convex in the region in contact with the ground and when inflated the shoulders at the junction between the side walls and tread portion separate significantly. The tyres may be used for road vehicles or aircraft. The tyre is general purpose and suitable for road use and use in rough country. Much of the weight of a vehicle can be supported by the tyre structure itself so that the tyre can run flat.
