noise damping device for casting bays and adjacent electric arc melting furnace

Device for noise redn. or sound proofing in casting shops adjacent to arc melting furnaces, where the casting ladles are mounted in a carrier which rotates round a vertical axis and is fitted with one or more forked carrier arms for holding the ladles. The novelty is that vertical noise-redn. partitions are mounted on the rotary carrier for closing most of the gap in the sound-proofing wall sepg. the melting-and casting- shops, at least in the position of charging and/or transfer or discharge of at least one casting ladle. The partitions pref. consist of a metal chassis filled with noise-redn. panels. Large arc furnaces create high noise levels and this device reduces the vol. of noise reaching the workers in the adjacent casting shop used, e.g. for continuous casting.
