Extn. of oil from plant raw material contg. 25% oil takes place by (1) wetting the pre-purified, ground raw material with 1-10 wt.% liq. esp. water or aq. solns., mixing, and drying to optimum moisture content 4-15%, depending on type of solvent used, before (2) solvent extn. purified oil is used for human nitrition; waste yields a high-grade, protein-rich animal food. Material is treated carefully, to give high-grade oils and waste having a low oil content. Wetting selectively bonds fine powders and subsequent extn. is carried out without clogging and with improved flow.
