An oil well pump which is controlled by a valve in the delivery line which indicates that oil is flowing, and if the oil flow stops, it automatically cuts off the pump, is provided with a timing unit to determine the percentage of oil productive time and to decide on this basis whether the pump can continue to function or has to be stopped.
