1428706 Dyestuff granulates CIBA-GEIGY AG 26 April 1973 [28 April 1972] 19849/73 Heading D1B Non-dusting dimensionally stable dyestuff granulate (including tablets as defined) of high bulk weight comprises 10-80% by weight of the granulate of a disperse dyestuff, 5- 80% of a cationic or anionic dispersing agent and 5-80% of a binding agent, the granulate preferably has a particle size of at least 1mm. The granulate may also contain an anionic, cationic or nonionic wetting agent, a filler e.g. an inorganic salt, urea or sugar, a humectant, a lubricant e.g. glycerin or ethylene glycol, an effervescent agent e.g. a mixture of sodium or ammonium bicarbonate and tartaric acid, a thickener e.g. carboxymethyl cellulose or polyvinylpyrrolidone or a drying agent based on silica. Anionic dispersing agents used include alkyl sulphonates and sulphates, alkylaryl sulphonates lignin sulphonate and condensation products of naphthalene sulphonic acid and formaldehyde. The cationic dispersing agents include alkylated or acylated di- or poly-amines, reaction products of fatty acids with di- or polyamines, reaction products of polyalkylene polyamine with alkyl halides, addition products of ethylene oxide and alkylated or acylated polyalkylene polyamines, quaternary ammonium compounds, quaternary pyridinium compounds, quaternary imidazolinium and tetrahydropyrimidinium compounds and N-free onium compounds. The binding agents include dextrin, maize starch, potato starch, gelatin and cellulose derivatives, and lignin sulphonates. The granulate is prepared by mixing the disperse dyestuff after prior wet fine grinding with the dispersing and binding agents to form a homogeneous paste which is granulated and dried.
