[Also in Divisions C5 and D1] A composition suitable for use in the treatment of multifilament bulked yarns comprises a solution of pH between 2 and 12 of (a) an aryl compound of the formula in which A. is an acid group, X is hydrogen, a nitrogen base cation or an alkali or alkaline earth metal cation, R is an alkyl group of 1-30 carbon atoms optionally substituted by halogen, carboxyl or alcohol groups and RSP1/SP and RSP11/SP are hydrogen, phenyl or phenoxy and (b) a polyether lubricity additive of the formula R 1 CH 2 (CHR 2 OCH 2 ) n CHR 2 R 3 in which R 1 and R 3 are terminal hydroxyl, terminal hydroxyl esterified with an acid having a linear molecule containing 2-20 carbon atoms or terminal hydroxyl etherified with an alcohol having a linear molecule containing 2-20 carbon atoms, R 2 is hydrogen or methyl and n is an integer of at least 3 with the proviso that the polyether has a maximum molecular weight of 30,000. The acid group of the aryl compound may be a sulphite, sulphate, hypophosphite, phosphate, phosphite or sulphonate group. The composition may be an aqueous solution containing 10-50% by weight of the aryl compound and the weight ratio of the aryl compound to the lubricity additive may be from 1: 1 to 8: 1. The pH may be adjusted by the addition of NaOH, KOH, NH 4 OH, H 2 NCH 2 - CH 2 OH, HN(CH 2 CH 2 OH) 2 , N(CH 2 CH 2 OH) 3 , NH 2 CH 2 CH 2 NHCH 2 CH 2 OH, (CH 3 ) 3 CNH 2 , (CH 3 ) 2 CHNH 2 or a polyoxyethylene alkylamine of the formula in which R is alkyl and x and y are integers of 2-15.
