The curved wave guide with rectangular cross section is manufactured by starting from a straight length of copper piping, whose interior is filled with a large number of strips (2). The strips are made from spring steel which has been accurately ground down. Some of the strips extend further out of the tube ends than others and consist of a short and a long section. The divided strips are arranged so that the short and the long section alternate. The pipe (1) is placed on the bending block (5) which consists of a core (6) with a curved outer surface, two jaws (7) and a roller (8). The strips are at right angles to the plane in which the pipe is bent. The strips are removed in a special order after the pipe has been bent.
