The mechanism is particularly intended for vacuum-treating concrete and is of the type comprising an air pump (1) whose suction side (10, 11, 13) is connected to the suction point (14) via the vessel (12). The vessel is divided (17) into an upper (15) and a lower chamber (16) which are normally connected. Means (30) are provided to connect the pressure side (7, 8, 9) of the pump with the lower chamber when the vessel is emptied, and at the same time to disconnect (18) the two chambers, whilst opening an outlet (19) in the lower chamber. The chambers may be connected partly by a valve (18) in the partition (17) and partly via a controllable air line (34, 30, 36) connected to the walls of the two chambers.
