Multi-electrode arc welding torch - with non-consumable in-line elec-trodes and inert gas shielding with constricted or partly constricted arcs

In a weld device for producing greater weld speed and better weld quality, comprising (i) a burner unit with =2 vertically displaceable electrodes arranged behind each other in the length direction of the weld bead and (ii) nozzles co-operating with the electrodes, the electrodes are non-consumable and the nozzles are so arranged that these can be exchanged, while each co-operating electrode and nozzle can operate either as a TIG (i.e. tungsten-inert gas) torch or as a plasma torch, the arc flame between the electrodes and workpiece then being an open or a constricted or partly constricted arc. The multi-electrode burner enables higher weld speeds and better weld quality to be achieved with a high degree of reliability.
