Linear or rotary vibrations are produced by hydraulic forces in servo-motors, by feeding to the hydraulic servo-motors a series of hydraulic pressure in pulses. This is done by connecting rapidly and alternately a pipe leading to the servo-motor to the hydraulic pressure and return pipes. Where th servo-motor is double-acting, the pressure impulses can be applied to the opposite sides of the motor in antiphase. At each changeover, a quantity of oil under pressure can be fed to the servo-motor slightly large than that discharged to the return pipe. The actual pressure can be varied during an impulse, so that the amplitude of the vibrations can be controlled.
