1317620 Castors JOSEPH GILLOTT & SONS Ltd 15 Nov 1971 [24 Nov 1970] 55753/70 Heading A4U A castor comprises a body part 12 having a socket 11 for a vertical pivot 10, and a roller part 13 having an integral axial extension 14 journalled in a socket 15 in the body part, the parts being held in assembled relation by snap engagement of a rib 26 in a groove 22 in the extension 14. The parts are made of nylon, preferably selflubricating, or of zinc alloy, at least one of them being resiliently yieldable to permit the snap engagement, the rib 26, the groove 22, or a head 19 on the extension having a chamfered coned or rounded part to aid assembly of the parts. A shoulder 25 on the rib may engage a shoulder 21 on the extension to provide bearing surfaces for axial load, and, in modifications the socket is formed with a closed outer end or a separate closure cap is provided, or the pivot 10 is integral with the body part and is journalled in a socket in the article supported. A recess for lubricant may be provided on the major bearing surfaces of the extension 14 and socket 15.
