The fuse holder for rod-shaped fuse cartridges having peripheral layer of conductive material at both ends, has two spaced holding element of conductive material, cooperating with the peripheral conductive layers. Thus the fuse cartridge can be brought into a secure position by application of preset tensile or compression force. A second holding element is provided between the end holding element for securing the fuse cartridge when the applied tensile or compression force exceeds the preset values.
