The sheets may be subject to air jets from slit nozzles 10 and 13 to remove sterilising and rinsing liq. respectively. The collecting trough has an overflow 22 above the highest part of the outlet so that rinsing water accumulates in the trough 11 to form a liq. seal to the housing and prevent egress of steam therefrom. Plates 20, 21 perform the same function.
