1517092 Signalling on trains MAGYAR ALLAMVASUTAK 26 March 1976 [27 March 1975] 12378/76 Heading B7H In a train including traction vehicle V and non-driven vehicles VJ1-VJn designed for automatic coupling, in which four pairs of control lines, 1 and 2 for supply to the autocontrol and the train end lamp, 3 and 4 for signalling purposes and 5-8 for brake control, extend along the length of the train via electric couplings CS1, CS2, cable loops L and vehicle switches VK between a control unit KE coupled to an operating and display unit VKE in the drivers cab of vehicle V to train tail end unit CS3 in the last vehicle VJN, the tail end unit CS3 is connected to a termination unit ZE which provides a termination for three of the cable pairs so that the operation of the tail end lamp and the integrity of the brake cables can be checked. Lines 1, 2 carrying a D.C. supply are connected in the tail end unit to a resistor R 1 , tail lamp L 1 and relay J in series. Pick up of the relay when the lamp is energized operates contact J1 to switch voltage stabilizing diodes Z1, Z2 into circuit and closed contact J3 switches out resistor R 2 of the resistors R 2 , R 3 terminating the signalling line 3 and 4 in the terminating unit 2E. Should the lamp fail the relay releases so that the change in terminating resistance produces a warning signal in the drivers cab and also contact J4 of the relay closes a circuit for auxiliary battery A to a second standby tail lamp L2. The battery A is normally charged from the supply line 1, 2. The two pairs of braking lines 5-8 which are normally energized with D.C. signals are terminated with capacitors C1, C2 so that by the use of AC signals the integrity of these lines can be checked from the drivers cab.
