Borocalcic ores are attached with an aq. soln. of CO2 and NH3 in a series of reactors each of which has means for saturating the aq. soln. therein with CO2, the first reactor being fed with the ore and an aq. soln. contng. NH3 in quantity sufficient for the CO2 concn. in the last reactor to be at least 5 g./kg. soln. The total necessary quantity of CO2 may be fed to the first or last reactor, the undissolved CO2 being fed to the next reactor and so on. The NH3 for the soln. fed to the first reactor may be stripped from the clear borate soln. resulting from the treatment.
